Next to Berlin (Berlin vacation rentals | Berlin travel guide) Hamburg (Hamburg vacation rentals | Hamburg travel guide) is the most exciting and international city in Germany. The Hanseatic City up in the North of the country is most famous for its Reeperbahn, the so—called sinful mile and centre of Hamburg’s red—light district. On the last weekend of every September dozens of new international bands meet an enthusiastic audience at Hamburg’s Reeperbahn. In 2010 the festival takes place from the 23rd until the 25th of September.

Since 2006 the festival crew regularly sends Hamburg‘s red—light district into raptures staging spectacular live music events. For three nights 150 to 200 bands and solo artists play in about 20 clubs, bars and theaters in Germany‘s most creative neighborhood — the festival‘s motto.

No matter if you are into singer—songwriters, alternative rock, electro or funk — everybody gets his money’s worth. During the Reeperbahn Festival handpicked newcomers from all over the world appear on the scene — all of them with the potential to star and usually before their great breakthrough.

What makes this festival so special is that it is not a crowded mega event but every club concert guarantees an intimate experience, up close to the performers. The event doesn’t take place somewhere in the countryside, miles away from the next town and often difficult to reach, but right in the middle of a metropolis and in its most exciting district. Out—of—towners can easily combine their visit with a stroll through adjacent neighborhoods like the Karoviertel and the Schanze with hip stores, bars and restaurants or a trip to Hamburg’s giant harbor.

Furthermore, Reeperbahn Arts offers special highlights like music related exhibitions, film screenings and the Flatstock Music Poster Convention — one of a kind in Europe. Artists from all over the world display their hand—printed posters there and sell unique copies and prints at extremely low rates.
