When you visit the Fichtelgebirge in Bavaria, do not miss out on the FichtelgebirgsCard. It is a simple chip card that you can buy in every tourist information center in the region and which gets you and your family discount or free entry to more than 90 attractions and sights in the Fichtelgebirge.

You can buy a card for either three or six days. The 3—day—card costs 19,00 € for adults and 10,00 € for children, the 6—day—card sells at 38,00 € for adults and 19,00 for children. Along with it comes a detailed travel guide, which lists all the places where you can make use of your card.

With the FichtelgebirgsCard you pay less or even get free entry to swimming pools, many adventure playgrounds, theaters and — believe it or not — 37 museums. Additionally you can use public transport for free.

The Fichtelgebirge is famous for its many mines, which have long been inoperative but are still open for visitors today. It is and exciting experience and great fun for all ages to get into the traditional working gear of a miner and ride down deep into the gallery in one of the historic wooden trams. There are five mines in the area, some of them dating back to the Middle Ages and revealing rock formations that are more than 300 million years old. With the FichtelgebirgsCard entry to all of them is free and probably the best reason to get you one of the cards.
